Pacific Boychoir Academy: Concert Fundraiser for the Berkeley Sexual Harm Survivors Support Group

The Berkeley Sexual Harm Survivor Support Group is a local organization that offers free sessions to survivors of sexual assault. Through coordination with Berkeley High School (BHS) student leadership, the support group has partnered with the Pacific Boychoir Academy for an online performance to raise money for their cause. The Pacific Boychoir Academy is a critically acclaimed, three-time Grammy Award winning vocal group. The performance will be at 7:00 PM on November 17 and tickets are ten dollars

Essential Stories Film Festival

This Bay Area festival will showcase the most essential narratives of today’s world, playing films about life during COVID-19, social justice, and those who fight to combat inequity. The event is presented by the Documentary Film Institute and will take place online. Films will play all day on November 18 and November 19, and a live Artist Convening will take place from 10 AM to 12 PM on November 19. The festival is free for the public.

Virtual Energy Challenge

This month, Berkeley Middle and High School students have the opportunity to participate in the Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD) Sustainability Program’s Virtual Energy Challenge. Up through November 30, there will be a series of challenges and weekly activities to educate people about sustainability and achieving energy savings. Students who participate in all four challenges will be featured on the program’s newsletter and Instagram page, and will also receive a reusable water bottle and an Energy Specialist certificate from Strategic Energy Innovations.

BAMPFA: Vocal Performance Livestream by Destani Wolf

With a uniquely powerful blend of jazz, soul, and Latin styles, Destani Wolf is a Berkeley-raised singer and songwriter who has made a prominent name for herself. Wolf was the lead vocalist for Cirque du Soleil’s 2018 World Tour, and has performed with the SF Symphony, at the Lincoln Center, at the SF Jazz Center, and on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Hear her perform virtually on December 3 at 7 PM. The livestream is free and will be hosted by the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA).

Berkeley Half Marathon

Running is a fantastic quarantine activity, but races involving many contestants present safety challenges. However, the organizers of the Berkeley Half Marathon have found creative ways to hold the race safely. Through a special app, spectators can follow the course, and contestants can compete with other runners’ times. Contestants can also set their own pace and send their times directly to the leaderboard. All contestants will receive shirts and medals. The cost of registration is forty to sixty dollars, and the race runs from December 11 through 14.
