Varsity water polo Captain Zev Bennett started playing freshman year because of its “hard-core” nature. Water polo is a highly strenuous sport, in which athletes tread water for nearly half an hour while competitors attempt to drown, kick, and win in anyway they can. Bennett came to the sport because it looked appealing to him, but now he loves “the physicality and pure intensity of water polo. You can only be in the moment [because] if you think of anything else you will get drowned, so you forget all other aspects of your life,” said Bennett. Bennett stays active way beyond the fall season. Aside from water polo, Bennett swims, rock climbs, and power lifts in the off-season. In addition, Bennett plans to play club water polo in college, but until then, look out for Bennett in the pool!
