In an effort to assist current BHS students in planning for life after high school, over 140 Berkeley High School (BHS) alumni contributed to a post high school resource document started by 2016 alumnus Milo Whitburn-Thomas.

“I wanted to help create some central place where current students could look and get some inspiration and different perspectives of where alumni are … and have some direct contact for where they can go if they need help,” Whitburn-Thomas said.

The Google document is currently available to anyone with the link and has been shared through Facebook and other methods of communication among students and families within the BHS community.

The resource includes the name, contact information, and the “Best Advice you could give about the College/Life Process” from nearly 150 alumni. On the document, alumni delivered messages of encouragement, offers to edit college application essays, and personal advice relating to their experience with the college process or life after high school. The document also includes resources for scholarships, college fly-in programs, career training opportunities, and more.

Orli Ziv, a BHS alumna of the class of 2015, shared the document in its infancy. “I was very touched and humbled to be part of a community that was so quickly willing to offer any help … So many people who I hadn’t talked to in years reached out to me to see how they could be of assistance, and I think that really speaks volumes to the community that we came from,” said Ziv.
